Good Morning, and happy Friday the Thirteenth:

Interestingly, our IT department is proposing the same plan, although
documents can stay in email for 90 rather than 30 days. Since many of
the documents my department keeps have a minimum retention period of
seven years, we, too, have concerns. Our way around the IT department
has been to put everything of value in a .pst folder, but that option
will be disabled.

Piggybacking on Suzanne's question, I'd like to add one of my own:

Has anyone been able to use an email archiving solution to help simplify
or enable easier compliance with a company records retention schedule?

Before I begin the conversation with IT, I'd like to be able to offer
useful suggestions. Thanks very much!

Subject: Email archiving retention question

Greeting to all from Cambridge, MA, where the snow is finally melting
:-)

Our IT department is in the process of implementing HP's RISS software
for email archiving. They have chosen to configure it so that after 30
days, all emails and attachments will be sent to the archive where they
will remain for three years.

As you might imagine, I have some concerns about this approach. (FYI,
it's been an IT project, with limited input from those of us outside of
IT.)

Cheers

Suzanne Mrozak
