<I would be real curious to know what this discussion about conflicts
has to do with RIM? .

Conflict searches and conflict databases appear to be a major part of
RIM in law firms.  It is one of the functions many of us do not have
under our RIM umbrellas, but I understand it is recognized as part of
RIM in most law firms.
