About 10 years ago I remember reading about a company in the Southwest
that was developing a storage device that could last for thousands of
years, maybe even billions. The device was a nickel plated disk with
microscopic or macroscopic images of documents etched into its surface.
Since the documents were etched into the surface it was also human eye
readable and not reduced to ones and zeroes. Whatever happened to this
promising innovation?
