I'm assuming Doug was speaking of the 'records principles" proposed by ARMA
in the recent past months, to which I've asked before and will ask again:

Where are the citations and examples that make these "Generally Accepted
Principles"? One of the things that typically accompanies a body of work
that is identified as "generally accepted" is a set of examples where the
provided principles are in practice and have been adopted across a wide
range of industry segments, in both public and private environments and
there are published sources that support them.

I understand that many of the items presented here are common practices
applied by some organizations in some industries, but those of us who have
worked in this field for a number of years also recognize that there is
virtually nothing in RIM that is one size fits all. And when something is
presented that gives general guidance, it is typically so general that it
lacks the necessary detail for successful application.

It would seem that anything of this nature generated by ARMA might be better
accepted if it were a funded project under the auspices of the ARMA
International Education Foundation (AIEF) or some other body, or that it at
least be supported by signatures of the authors of the principles, citing
their background, experience and where the guidance was drawn from.
