Jim,

I've been involved off and on with the ARMA Code of Professional Responsibility for so long, I almost forgot our early discussion of penalizing ethical miscreants (sp?). We were advised--as were other information associations--to use "code of professional responsibilty" rather than "code of ethics" since the latter implies that something bad might happen to a "bad guy." If we were the ABA or AMA, we would have greater power in this area. We were asked to make it clear in our ranks that punishment of someone might bring more grief that we might expect as the person could use laws related to depriving someone of business oppotunities when he/she is kicked out of the association.

I'm just reciting the history here, not advocating your doing anything other than what you have. Al is newer to the committee that when all this happened.

Best,
Mike
