Lori, here's a list to start with:

vendor box number (probably the barcode ID)
internal box number, if you have your own tracking system
list of box contents
department assignment(s) for contents (if the department is a code of
some kind, add a description of what the dept. does, e.g., accounts
receivable, purchasing; dept. codes change, but functions stay pretty
much the same)
responsible manager(s) for department
date range of contents
records series for box contents

If you try to imagine requesting authorization to destroy these records
in 5, 10, or 20 years, think about what information you'll need, what
questions a department manager will ask before authorizing final
destruction.
