Even including the wiki feature through a 3rd party interface, you can't
capture exchanges and document decisions in many/most wikis as to who said
what when... and in certain processes thee is a requirement that is
captured. The use of e-mail within a YG supported that.

One brief point about just about any wiki that isn't Wikipedia or another
giant public one: Every change is tracked, down to the individual character
level, with the name of the person that made the change. You are in fact
tracking MORE than you can track through email. Again, Wikipedia and some of
the other large public ones are exceptions, but I can guarantee that I knew
who made any change or comment to any of the dozen or so projects I've
worked using wikis.

And every platform I am aware of, from Mediawiki to Wikispaces to Editme to
pbWorks, supports comments so that even changes that aren't made can be
documented. And even changes that aren't kept are generally retained in the
database after rollback. In other words, I draft something (v1), you change
it (v2), I disagree and roll it back (v3). V3 is identical in appearance to
v1, but v2 nevertheless is available for documentation if needed.

Bottom line: in my estimation there is no tool more accountable today than a
wiki - of course provided it requires a username. But for the third and
final time, Wikipedia and its ilk (Wiktionary, etc.) are intentionally
designed to allow anonymous contribution. This is by far the exception in
the wiki world, whether hosted or onsite and whether public or private.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of myself and no other company,
organization, association, entity, or board of directors,

jesse
