In doing interviews with folks in our legal department one request
came up several times --- that was to be able to track all of the
prior names and permutations of the various corporate entities under
our corporate umbrella. I don't really think that this is something
that could or even should be tracked in a records management software
system, but could certainly be referenced or linked to in an ECM
program.
Apparently the program they use to manage our corporate entities only
will list a single prior name (they don't like it much and are looking
at other programs). With all the mergers, acquisitions, re-formations
we've had, there are numerous old names that it would be very helpful
for them to know. An Access database could be done up to track this,
but I was wondering if any software already existed to do this?
