Director of Records Management and Information Practices, UCLA Corporate

The Director, Records Management and Information Practices has
responsibility for the development and implementation of records management
practices for the campus and operational responsibility for the campus
Information Practices/Records Management function and for the CFS Records
Management function. Serves as the Information Practices/Records
Coordinator for UCLA. In that capacity, the Director oversees the collection,
redaction and production of campus records in response to specific requests
and provides guidance to campus departments regarding the management of
public and confidential information to minimize campus liability when requested
by the public to provide information. As the department head responsible for
the CFS Records Management function, ensures that the department meets
its processing obligations, provides efficient and effective service to its
internal customers, and ensures that vital records are appropriately stored and
retained to meet UC policy and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
• Thorough knowledge of California Public Records Act (CPRA),
Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and Information Practices Act (IPA) and
ability to interpret how laws apply to specific requests.
• Demonstrated success in providing strategic direction to an
information practices/records management organization.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and conducting training and
professional development programs in the area of information practices and
records management to meet organizational needs.
• Demonstrated knowledge and successful implementation of quality
principles within a service organization.
• Demonstrated managerial experience and ability to attract, retain,
supervise and motivate professional and administrative support staff, including
selection, training, delegation, and performance management.
• Superior organizational, conceptual, analytical and project
management skills. Proven ability to meet project deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal and political acumen skills to successfully
collaborate/interface with a broad range of personnel from various campus
departments, including executive management, directors, managers,
supervisors, faculty and staff employees.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills using appropriate
vocabulary and grammar to inform or persuade targeted audiences at various
organizational levels and backgrounds.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in desktop office solutions
(e.g., Microsoft Office suite), database applications, email, and internet
search tools.
• Masters degree in information management or business management
or equivalent years of experience managing records and information practices
functions.
• Certification as a Certified Records Manager (ICRM).
• Continued employment contingent upon completion of satisfactory
background investigation.
