"It's standard practice in most testing facilities.  People have been known to roll up notes inside of pens.  Providing the tools reduces the risk to the facility providing the testing."

The Pearson Vue authorized testing center I went to has cameras in the testing rooms.  I am sure most if not all of them do the same.  I can't imagine anyone trying to bring any notes into the testing room, especially when you consider that the test questions are not known beforehand and someone is staring at you throughout the test.

I would not recommend eating a cheeseburger before the test, because that might give you indigestion!  You don't want to waste any time being sick!  :-)
