Please forgive me...

I just want to qualify myself before I start getting anymore notes regarding
my comment on the emerging status of RM. I mis-spoke when I said this. I
am aware of the history of records management as a profession...Among other
things, I have read Luciana Duranti's wonderful article about the history of
the recordkeeping profession and *Control Through Communication* by Joanne
Yates. I only meant to comment on the fact that records management does not
yet have a well-developed relationship with higher education. Most people
don't choose this career in college or grad school, they just "fall into it"
(to quote nearly everyone I've ever talked to). Subsequently, there is a
less established network of internships and entry-level jobs than other
information related careers (i.e. library science, archives).
Thankfully, it appears that is beginning to change.
I am sorry I was not more clear in my meaning.

Respectfully,
Emily Gierada Cogswell, MSI
