Okay, my turn to chime in.

I bought my first Robek, Brown and Stephens book in 1995 and then,
submitted my original application soon afterward. I took the exams with
little knowledge of the subjects, but if you don't test yourself, how
will you know what you know?!?!

I wanted those little letters behind my name for me only...not for an
employer, but just me. So, I started passing the first 5 parts and got
through them with great pain, at times! And, to keep current, I had to
retake some that I had passed because those first passed tests were
outside the 5-year window.

Now, I am preparing to take Part 6 in November for the fifth time, but
you know, it's just fine! I had all kinds of events pop up and disrupt
the testing process...like the insecurity - "What am I thinking? Am I
smart enough to be a CRM? I can't compete with the members of the ICRM?
I'll never be smart enough to write a white paper or work in
consulting."

Hey, don't let ANYONE tell you that you aren't smart enough or question
which is the right job to advance your career. If you want ANYTHING bad
enough, find a way to get it!

If you have any questions that I can help you with, please feel free to
contact me.

I hope to see many of you in October at the ARMA conference in my
hometown of Orlando. I can't promise that we will only have sunny
weather, but I CAN promise miles and miles of smiles and good times!

All the best,

Alice
