If your documents are in MS Office 2003 or later, Microsoft actually
offers a hidden data removal add-on.

Here is a link the Microsoft article on the tool.

Best of luck!

I assume you mean word processing files etc, probably from some version
of
MS Office?

You could open each document and save it in a format that strips off the
metadata, eg .DOC - .TXT. I've used that on doc files but I don't know
about
spreadsheets. .RTF might work too. Depends on what you mean by
'metadata'.
And of course you lose any formatting, tables, graphics etc.

If you have lots to process, you might be able to get an IT person to
come
up with a script or batch file to do it in bulk, or if you are fortunate
enough to have an EDM with workflow capabilities you could automate it
somehow.

A quick Google search shows lots of information on doing it one by one:

and adding the word 'batch' brings up several freeware and commercial
possibilities:

cs+batch&meta

These views are mine alone. They may or may not be those of any
previous or present employers or clients. I don't know. If I'd asked
and they'd agreed, I would have signed it "Harry Peck and Co and
Glenn". Or whatever. But I haven't, so I didn't.
