Work with your General Counsel to establish a review policy; one in
which the clients have 30 days to review the records/info
destruction/deletion notice for incomplete audit, pending or current
litigetion, etc. and respond. If they do not respond, it is assumed
consent to delete the info. per established retention policy. It is
important to copy the pertinent department's assigned attorney on these
when you send them out.
I have done this with three organizations for whom I have worked in
RIM. Works well, and better for the organization. Make sure you
properly vette your destruction and deletion notices before you send
them.

started to do record disposal in our organization recently. We sent out

list of records eligible for disposal and authorization letters to
managers/directors for them to sign off. The deadline has passed but
