"Understand if you do use off campus housing that there is a minimum I believe $12.78 parking fee per day and the cost of renting the car.  Or the cost of a taxi.  It is likely still less than the $229, but just wanted to make sure others knew if they considered this."

Very true.  The rental car was part of my cost considerations to begin with and my company gets fairly good rates.  I will be attending Thursday-Sunday so even at $12.78 per day, I still come out almost $500 ahead over the length of the conference by staying a few miles from the conference hotel.  Just something to consider for those needing to justify the cost of the conference in the hopes of attending.  A $500 savings helped me when I brought the proposal to my boss.
