Very tempting, as there are rates in the Buena Vista area at 3-4 star
hotels as cheap as $75/night...I like the Marriot, but...it's awfully
expensive for someone on a limited budget.

Understand if you do use off campus housing that there is a minimum I
believe $12.78 parking fee per day and the cost of renting the car. Or
the cost of a taxi. It is likely still less than the $229, but just
wanted to make sure others knew if they considered this.

"Personally, I'm looking for someone to share hotel (share a room) costs
with at the upcoming ARMA International conference. Others of you may
also have interest in doing this to assure you can attend the conference
at all.
I'd like to find someone to share room costs with so I can go and also
help anyone else who might be in the same financial situation. The early
registration deadline is within a few days of ending, even with the
extension, so I wanted to address as quickly as possible."

Tom raises an interesting point. I know many organizations are facing
tough economic times and there is a need to justify attending a
conference of any kind. Mine is no different and I had to justify the
cost of attending the ARMA conference this year in Orlando. Sharing
expenses such as rooms or rental cars is an excellent way to do that.

While I understand the convenience of having the hotel and conference
all in one facility, it was hard for me to justify $229 per night for a
room, regardless of the all-in-one factor. Another option for people
aside from room sharing might be to stay at a hotel a few miles from the
conference facilities. I know I am at a rate of $90 per night. The
room savings alone helped to make my case to attend. Just a thought.

Thanks, Steve
