I do understand your vent! I think it is a toss-up between legal and IT. Bless them all and I've been a part of legal teams and now reside in IT :)

 

One of the patent attorneys I used to work with took it on herself to save me some time and "purged" several years worth of patent files. She told me that since we had sold the assets we no longer need the materials. Amazing that we had just worked on the retention schedule for said files. And of course I said so what about that retention schedule we just completed? I got a blank stare.
