this is one of the funniest letter's i've read in a long time.

from it I suspect the original purchase agreements were sent to the vault
for protection as a vital record. but the statement above tells me that the
'legal assistant' needs some training as to what the various documents in
the file are for. I suspect that the file contains correspondence. addendums
to the agreement and other information that could prove useful in case of a
lawsuit or dispute.

not sure how your retention schedule reads, but I would make sure that for
purchase agreements it includes a statement that  says something to the
effect " may include correspondence, invoice copies, addendums and other
records related to the performance of the agreement. Original signed
purchase agreement is stored in Finance Dept vault as part of Vital Records
protection program" just a suggestion
