Wow!  Glenn this is fantastic, valuable knowledge! 
I am so impressed now with these little SD cards, I can hardly wait to tell 
 others.
 
I am so glad I asked the question as I and I hope others have learned a lot 
 about this.
 
I think bottomline is:  Use sd/flash drive to transfer data and for  more 
long term, use the hard drive and/or CD's.  Correct?

you can plug your  digital camera into the laptop and copy any data from the
pc to the camera  memory. Doesn't have to be photos, the memory doesn't  
know.
