Earl -

I think "pink elephant" refers to a drunken hallucination and "elephant in the room" refers to overlooking the obvious - but I could be wrong, it's been known to happen!

Subject: [RM] Any "pink elephant" stories to share?

Good afternoon,

I'm updating a presentation I'm about to give on RM advisory teams for an upcoming ARMA workshop, and would like to add some real life stories on pink elephants. For those who don't know, the term "pink elephant in the room" is an English idiom for an obvious truth that is being ignored. It's based on the idea that an elephant in a room would be impossible to overlook; thus, people in the room who pretend the elephant is not there might be concerning themselves with relatively small and even irrelevant matters, compared to the looming big one.

Any pink elephant stories to share?  I'll be sure to give you credit in my presentation, or, if you prefer, you (and your employer) can remain anonymous.  Feel free to respond to me off-list if you like.

Thanks.
Earl
