Eighteen months ago I made the move from our Legal team to IT - specifically Business Applications Support. My role as corporate records manager continues, but I am aligned with our systems folks working directly with our developers and our program managers. I am not a program manager, but in essence that is probably what I am becoming. Or something in-between a program manager & analyst.
For me the door was open and I went through. Yes, I am sitting at the adults table. I still write retention schedules and I still support litigations. This seems to be the evolution of our profession. We should not be separate or viewed as administrative.
My opinion for what it's worth (favorite song - "For What It's Worth" Buffalo Springfield/Stephen Stills).
Rock on!
