I don't understand why people who don't like the postings don't just set an email alert/rule that puts them in junk mail or in the delete folder if they don't want to receive them? Here are the directions if you use Outlook:

Open Outlook mail
On the menu bar, select Tools
From the Tool Menu, select Rules and Alerts
From the top of the Dialogue Box, click on 'New Rule' button
From the menu list, select 'Move messages with specific words in the subject to a folder'
Click on NEXT
From the Step 2 Dialogue Box, click on the 'specific word' link
In the Define Word Dialogue Box, click on the field and enter "RAIN" or "RAINdrip"
Click on the OK Button
From the Step 2 Dialogue Box, click on the 'move to folder' link
From the Folder List, select the Delete or Junk Mail Folder
Click on the OK Button
Verify that the Rule in the Step 2 Dialogue Box is correct and specifies "Aplly rule when received"
Click the "Finish" Button

Of course, I don't delete my raindrips...I just move them to a folder within my listserv messages and enjoy them as I have time.

I am just ENRAGED that what appears to be a minority of listserv subscribers--acting anonymously--can deprive the majority of the benefits of the RAIN postings.

Those of you who do not wish to receive RAIN could have used the facilities in your email system for automating deletion of the postings. Or just hit the DELETE key.

Peter Kurilecz and I have few political views in common. Yet, the immense worth of his RAIN contribution more than makes up for any disagreement we may have in that area. Depending on my mood, I'll smile or growl, but I let it go.

Others can be dispassionate about this scandalous outcome. I cannot.

I only wish that Peter Kurilecz would change his mind and go back to the status quo ante.

My apologies for cross-posting this to both the RM and the Archives & Archivists listserv.
