Julie - Thanks for inviting "real life" experiences.  I agree that records 
disposition has to be part of the overall records management process, and 
that tying the principle of disposition to the other GARP principles makes sense 
and could be used to improve the effectiveness of the overall program.  We 
have focused on documentation - proof that our records were destroyed in 
the normal course of business, in compliance with our established procedures, 
etc.  
My biggest issue now is with the disposition of electronic records.  We do 
have an electronic document repository with retention rules applied but our 
users also have personal file shares, e-mail inboxes, SharePoint sites, and 
other places to store their electronic data.  We're trying to develop controls 
for retention and disposition of all electronic content, but the disposition 
procedures for paper records just don't fit.  I'd love to hear your presentation 
(and I do plan to attend) address how the GARP principle of disposition can be 
best applied to electronic records.
