Please join ARMA NOVA for our December 2010 chapter meeting. Our speaker
is Elizabeth W. Adkins, Director of Global Records and Information Management
at CSC. Elizabeth will discuss her experiences leading a delegation of
archivists to South Africa in March 2010 on behalf of the People to People
Citizen Ambassador Programs, which facilitates professional and cultural
exchanges between the U.S. and other parts of the world. During the visit,
the delegation met with archivists in Johannesburg and Cape Town, and
learned about the role that records have played in South Africa’s troubled past
and during the country’s transformation to a post-apartheid society.

The December chapter meeting will also be an opportunity for attendees to
support Training Futures, a program of Northern Virginia Family Service
(www.nvfs.org) that prepares individuals to move from dead-end or sporadic
employment to professional office careers which provide livable wages,
benefits and opportunities for professional and personal growth. Training
Futures was launched in 1996 and has since trained more than 1,000 people
from diverse backgrounds and experience. Training Futures uses ARMA
publications in their curriculum and at least one of our chapter members has
hired a Training Futures program graduate. All donations are tax-deductible,
and the chapter will provide a donation at least equal to the total amount of
donations made by chapter members. We encourage everyone to open your
hearts and pocketbooks for this worthy cause, by donating either at the
meeting or through this link: https://co.clickandpledge.com/Default.aspx?
