Our EDMS also has the ability to manage paper files (yes we still have some). We can sign files in/out, virtually create 'boxes' prior to offsite storage, print folder labels and run box indexes when we're ready to send.

Make sure the vendor is there for YOU in case you need customized solutions. Make sure the retention functionality works before implementation. We customized the 'out of the box' product to match our complicated classification system only to find the retention side didn't work! We and the vendor are now struggling to find a solution (5 years later).
