Charles K. Piercy, NARA's Acting Assistant Archivist for Information Services, has announced the appointment of Robert Chadduck as Acting Director for the National Archives Center for Advanced Systems and Technologies, also known as NCAST.  His appointment was effective January 3, 2011. Mr. Chadduck was appointed to this position after the retirement of the former Director of NCAST, Dr. Kenneth Thibodeau.
 
Bob has mostly recently served as the Principal Technologist for NCAST, as well as a prior assignment as the Principal Technologist and Director of Research for NARA's Electronic Records Archives (ERA) Program.
 
Bob currently represents the National Archives on a variety of significant Committees, Working Groups, and Councils, specifically as a:
 
    * Member of the National Science and Technology Council, Subcommittee on Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD); NITRD's Human Computer Interaction and Information Management Coordinating Group; and co-chair of the NITRD Federal Administration of Science and Technology Education and Research community practice (FASTER) contributing to accelerate translation of  networking and information technology research findings and developments into federal IT operations;
    * Member of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) co-chaired Interagency Working Group on Digital Data (IWGDD), the Emerging Technology Subcommittee, and the Architecture and Infrastructure Committee of the Federal CIO Council.
    * Member of the IEEE Executive Committees of the Technical Committee for Mass Storage Systems and Technologies as well as the Task Force on Information Assurance.
