Larry:
Were you the guy Erin Brockovich bewitched into letting her see all the records in the cluttered "records room"?

Don't get me started... DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED on this one.

I **KNOW** the true story, I lived it for 12 years. Between 1982 and 1993,
I was first a Consultant and then the Gas Transmission and Storage Records
Manager for PG&E. My last hurrah was managing the engineering support
efforts for drawing conversion and production from concept to as-built on
the last major parallel pipeline installed in 1991-1994.

I know what records were there, because I BUILT the system- selected, hired
and managed the staff that indexed and inventoried everything from the 1890s
to 1990s, built databases, established filing systems, converted physical
format drawings from pen and ink on linen to CAD by raster and vector
methods, established historical files for all of the pipeline and facilities
along the lines. Every pipeline was supported by a detailed system of
records from the original Job Order estimating the coast of installation
through all phases of construction, maintenance and modification to date, as
required by CPUC General Order 112D.

And I also know that after I left, no one knew what the files were or what
they represented because during the reorganization that resulted in my
position being one of the 1500 that were eliminated, all but one member of
my staff lost their jobs also... and the Engineering Records Reference
Library was 'relocated'.

And yeah, I knew where the smoking guns were that Ed Masry asked about in
Erin Brockovich as well. Don't get me started on THAT one either... I had
control over ALL of those records.
