The last department I worked at had to change vendors as the one they were using went under. I don't think they had any issue like your having, but you do have a right to be there when they get boxes ready to be sent to the new vendor.

I would suggest going to the current vendor and watch them as they get the boxes ready and write down the box numbers (if that's how you track them). And what you could do for the boxes already sent is request the new vendor to pull them all and write down what they have, and compare your list to what the old vendor is saying they shipped and, any discrepancies that you have go back to the previous vendor and tell them, and inquiry as to where the boxes are. They could have something goofed up in their system.

Hope this helps.

Andrea

Subject: transitioning off-site storage vendors

My company is in the process of transitioning from one off-site storage vendor
to another. We are experiencing a little difficulty with the transition in the
sense that the old vendor has provided me with a list of the containers they
say they sent to the new vendor each week; and the new vendor claims that
they have not received all of the boxes the old vendor claims to have sent.
The person preparing the permanent removal list in advance is not the same
person pulling and preparing the boxes for shipment at the old vendor. All
boxes at the new vendor are reportedly being handled via bar code scanning.
Has anyone experienced this problem and, if so, what steps did you take to
resolve the issue? Thank you in advance for any insight or advice you can
provide.
