Paul,

You fail to recognize a basic truth. Records Managers are compensated for the application of scientific, quantifiable and documented product in the field of information maangement. Archivists are compensated for the artistic application of non-quantifiable, esoteric, and feel good understandings of reality that are not appreciated in their own time. Like most artists, Archivists do not realize monetary return on their contribution. Rather, the Archivist is a contributor to the greater good. I am positive you sleep better knowing that your suffering for your art will benefit man longer that the work of the lowly Records Manager and really isn't that what it is all about. How could you ever put a price on such a thing?
