We evaluated SharePoint as well as two other vendors as a complete ECRM
solution. While SharePoint appears up front to be more cost effective we
needed 6 additional software programs to do everything you state below in
order to meet all our requirements. With having 6 additional programs, there
are more integration points, more costs to maintain and when one of the
software programs is upgraded - it may affect all the other programs. Plus you
now need to have support personnel who are knowledgeable in all programs vs.
one or two. We decided not to go with the sharepoint as our ECRM solution
but rather with a vendor that has all the capabilities we need.
