Good afternoon,

I am looking for your opinions - and I hope that I can explain this correctly!

Our company has a "services" division in which we perform services (permitting & reporting, alcohol & drug testing, title & registration, just to name a few...) for our customers - the records retained for this part of the company belong to the "client" but are stored at our facility - they are not part of our "corporate records program." (We have a formal records program for all other records belonging to the corporation but the client records have never been included.)

Our services division is in the process of implementing a document management system - these "client" records will now be scanned and stored electronically. My question is - shouldn't these "client" records be considered "corporate" records now that they are being stored in an electronic system that is on the company's network? I have asked to be involved in the implementation but have been left out - "corporate records" (me) has never been involved with the "services" side of the company (silos) but I feel that I should now be involved.

I hope this makes sense and I hope that maybe some of your questions/replies back to me will help me understand.

Thank you,
Jeanne
