Our Opinion - Court made right decision on records lawsuit - New
Philadelphia, OH - The Times-Reporter
The city of New Philadelphia, and thus taxpayers, have dodged a bullet in a
$4.9 million public-records case, thanks to a unanimous and sound decision
Thursday by the Ohio Supreme Court.

Timothy T. Rhodes of Massillon sued the city in October 2007, claiming it
had violated state laws by illegally disposing of or destroying data
contained on daily reel-to-reel audiotapes used in the police department.
The recordings, made between March 1989 and December 1995, had been taped
over.
