Having been to the Gaylord a couple of times in the past year for other conferences, they do lock you inside the Gaylord fairly well, so if you don't poke around a bit, you'll likely overspend your travel budget. Most of the hotels are a healthy walk (not very long unless it is really hot and humid out) to the Gaylord. The whole development is very new, so all of the hotels ought to be pretty fresh.

I found an Irish bar for the Clancy's and there is a dueling piano place and a BBQ place that are likely suitable for the Listserve. Cheap eats include a Potbelly, a pizza joint with gelato, and a Baja Fresh. A CVS with a liquor department is just down the street. There's also a Ben and Jerry's. The sports bar in the Gaylord is about the only really reasonable food inside the hotel.

Keep in mind that National Harbor is a fer piece from the Mall. There are water taxis, but this place is a bit of an island just outside the Beltway. No Metro and I'd guess a $20-$30 cab ride from the Mall. The cab ride from National / Reagan Airport (DCA) is $30 to $40. You probably don't want to take a cab from Dulles (IAD). If you drive, there are a number of public lots in the development that offer 24 hour parking. That may be a less expensive option for some. http://www.nationalharbor.com/consumer/parking.htm

The Gaylord itself is a huge place and very nice. The expo and conference areas are very convenient. It's quite easy to duck out of a session and get back to your room.
