I remember some of these pictures from this site from a World War II history book I read in high school although I don't recall the book title. I'm not that young and neither was the book at the time I read it.

The 'story' that circulated at the time said they came form an old Kodak
Brownie camera that was found among the wartime belongings of a former
enlisted man who was aboard a Navy ship stationed in Pearl and that the film
had been undeveloped.

Stored under proper temp/humidity conditions, that could have been true, but
I think I recall seeing the story debunked awhile later.
