There is some controversy associated with the Baath party records now 
housed at Stanford.  For background, see the joint statement issued by the 
Society of American Archivists and the Association of Canadian Archivists in

The Spring/Summer 2011 issue of SAA's academic journal, American Archivist, 
includes an article addressing the controversy. The title is, "'Thank You Very 
Much, Now Give Them Back': Cultural Property and the Fight over the Iraqi 
Baath Party Records," and the author is Michelle Caswell.  An abstract of the
