But I wonder who will be bidding, since the ad states that "Only
authorized users on the customer's account and corporate officers of the
customer are eligible to purchase the customer's records at the
auction."

Subject: Records storage auction

okay so I said I wouldn't be posting much this month, but a fellow
member of the ARMA Richmond (VA) chapter sent me the following piece. I
definitely think this is something all should be aware of. The items are
being auctioned under the warehouseman lien which allows the "warehouse"
to auction off items in storage for which the rent hasn't been paid.
Imagine this showing up on Storage Wars

I saw something in the Richmond Times-Dispatch today that I thought I
would bring to your attention as a regular poster on the
listservice.****

** **

In the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Thursday August 11, 2011, Business
Section D, Find Deals page, Announcements, Auction Sales, there is an
announce of "Notice Of Auction Sales For Unpaid Storage" to be held at
Iron Mountain in Richmond, VA. The brief description of the property to
be auctioned:
"Personal and business records, and other items that are of a similar
nature, stored by the following customers: Cavalier Title & Escrow,
*******
*1245 Mall Dr****.**, **Richmond**, **VA** **23236****."****

** **

If anyone has ever wondered what happens to records in storage at a
commercial site when the storage cost goes unpaid, here is an example of
what could and may happen. Since this is for a title company, who knows
what type of personal information will be available to the highest
bidder.**

Do you think this is something the readers may want to know about and
comment on?****
