Jenny - You know I respect you and your dedication to the profession.  Did the ICRM consider a second (or more) type of CRM certification as the PMI or CIPP did instead of IMHO wilting the prestige of the CRM process?  That would also provide additional revenue and open the doors to others to work towards the CRM.  RIM courses are still less than abundant than accounting.

CPA (Certified Public Accountant) - requires a combination of education and experience and passing the exams.  The education includes specific number of hours of accounting courses. While the exam is the same no matter where it's taken, every state/ jurisdiction has its own set of education and experience requirements that individuals must meet. http://www.aicpa.org/BecomeACPA/GettingStarted/Pages/default.aspx

PMP (Project Management Professional) and other PMI certifications - requires a combination of education and project management experience and passing the exam.  PMI offers 5 certifications.  http://www.pmi.org/en/Certification/What-are-PMI-Certifications.aspx

CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) and other IAPP certifications - requires membership in IAPP and passing the exams.  IAPP offers 5 certifications. https://www.privacyassociation.org/certification/certification_requirements/

Seems to me that we are still in concert with other professional certifications with the new criteria.
