Dear All:
As person who served on the ICRM Board from 2005-2010, I've got a couple of comments to make.
I ran for office in the ICRM because I had recently become a CRM and had been a grader and had issues that I wanted the ICRM to address. What followed was 6 of the most wonderful years any professional could hope for. Being on the board of the ICRM meant serving with some truly bright and dedicated individuals as they dealt with such issues as applicant qualifications, going from a paper to electronic based testing, overhauling the test bank, getting recertification online and getting the application process online, to name but a few tough nuts to crack. This was accomplished by people who had day jobs and families and still gave 110% to the ICRM- and remember each new initiative meant the proposer needed to figure out how to implement without a big staff to help. Did we get everything right? Probably not. But we got in ring and tried to make the ICRM and the CRM better for those that follow.
If you care about the CRM designation, think about you can make a difference in a meaningful way. If you are a CRM, think about becoming a grader or volunteering to help on one of several initiatives or consider running for the board. If you do, I can promise you'll have a hell of a ride and be handed interesting and hard problems to solve. If you're as lucky as I was, you'll come away a better professional with the good feeling that you made a difference.
William
