In my opinion it isn't reasonable to expect no charges to withdraw materials (no matter what kind of business you are in). The vendor will have usual and customary expenses that should be paid by the customer such as retrieval from the rack and staging for pick up/delivery/destruction. In addition, there is also some amount of administrative work to update their database.
I am all for objecting to fees that work as penalties, but am perfectly fine paying for reasonable services rendered (that is, assuming the vendor isn't in breach of contract).
Just my 2 cents on a suspiciously fall-ish feeling morning in the deep south :)
