Thanks for posting this article, Bruce.

I have always regarded Autonomy's leadership as visionaries. Their growth
is absolutely astounding, and that doesn't happen by accident.

I especially appreciated his comments surrounding IT's traditional approach
of making us fit what computers can handle, and that the time is finally
upon us (them) to stop trying to force that approach and embrace the
opposite - make computers that do what we want and need.

It makes me wonder what the folks on this list see coming. Do you agree
with Lynch's prognostications? Do you think we'll see a major shift in
technology functionality in the next few years, and if so, what
functionality is coming? Lynch's comments were admittedly focused more on
individual and social use of technology, but the implications for business
are there too.

In my opinion, I agree that the time is coming (or here) where the IT
industry must stop hiding from content. Several vendors have already moved
in that direction (e.g. analytics) and are developing tools to help us
determine context and value, and to leverage information in ways we haven't
been able to ... not to merely manage information for compliance and simple
business reasons. It's bigger than that, and I, for one, am on the edge of
my seat to see what's next.

Thoughts?

Julie
