Hi Angel,

It's good to hear from you. Students can apply for the MARA degree between
October 1st, 2011 and March 31, 2012. It takes about 6-8 weeks to review
each application, so it is best to apply by the end of February if possible.

The MARA program is not ALA accredited because it contains no library
courses. It focuses on records management and archives related to records
management. If you want to work in a library or in an archives in a library,
you would want the MLIS degree. If you want to work in a position as a
records manager or corporate archivist, the MARA degree would be right for
you.

Pat

the master's of archives and records administration degree at San jose State
University

Prof. Franks,
I unfortunately don't have a masters degree to teach, but I hope to change
that. When is the student deadline to apply for Fall 2012 Master of
Archives and Records Administration (MARA)?

Also did ALA certify San Jose State University's MARA degree?

Thank you,
Angel Ramos, CRM
