Hi,

I'm a new subscriber to this list. I work as a project archivists on two different
projects, one at a public library, local history dept. The other is at a private
school and requires me to write record retention policies.

The blueprints for the school are in various (none of them ideal, from a
preservation standpoint) locations. Most are in Facilities (not insulated) in a
flat file. They have run out of room in the file and want to know from me, how
many blueprints to keep. For the early years of the school (1910-?) there are
few blueprints and those will stay.

For later years, there are many, at each stage. Ron (facilities manager) wants
to save several from each stage (they are like working drafts), but wants to
know from me how many to keep and have that be part of the official records
retention policy.

It may be wise to save some in Facilities and some in Archives (attic in old
building, so huge changes in temp. and humidity). Of course, I want better
conditions for archives but they haven't come up with a different space yet.

Thanks in advance!

Jennifer
