Hello all,

I am attempting to put together a lightning talks session for the Society of American Archivists' 2013 conference on "alternative" paths to archives work (i.e. non-archives MLIS). Thus far I have received a number of responses from people who have come from either a more academic path (subject MA), a non-archives path (traditional librarianship), or paraprofessional activities, but I am still looking for a records management perspective for the panel. In particular, I am interested in hearing from people who were hired to their position in the past 10 years *primarily* on the strength of CRM certification, other RIM certification, or other Records Management experience.

During the networking segment of SAA's Students and New Archives Professionals Roundtable meeting in August, I fielded a lot of questions about paths to an archives/RM job without an MLIS in general and with the CRM in particular, so I think hearing about actual people's experiences in this vein will be of great interest to SAA members and a major boon to the overall session. If you are interested in sharing your experience in New Orleans in 2013 (or know of someone who you think would be), please reply to this address. Thank you all in advance for your help!

Sincerely,

Brad Houston
