"Question in return: do "aviation authorities" have much in the way of very long-lived records? By "very long-lived" I mean in excess of 30 years."
Fred, to answer your question, the longest items we keep (past 30 years) are:
Agendas and minutes of public meetings
Annual Budget
Comprehensive Master Plans
Personnel files of non-Florida Retirement System employees (50 fiscal years past termination)
There are others, but I won't bore you with the list. In Florida, aviation authorities are considered "special districts" and are set up much like city/county structures. So, we follow the State of Florida General Records Schedule GS-1SL for State and Local Government Agencies in our records retention.
Hope this helps answer your question.
Have a great day, all!
