Conquistador letter found - The Art Newspaper One of the oldest letters sent to the New World, dated 15 October 1522, has been found in the State Archive in Naples after disappearing for more than a century. The document carries the “Yo el Rey” signature belonging to Charles V, the head of the Holy Roman Empire and the Spanish Empire, who also presided over the Spanish colonies in Central and South America. The letter recognises the famous conquistador Hernán Cortés as the gobernador (governor) of Mexico. Cortés conquered the country and its inhabitants, the Aztecs, along with their last emperor, Montezuma. http://bit.ly/11dDjoV Source: http://www.theartnewspaper.com/articles/Conquistador-letter-found/29424 See if people are clicking on this link: http://bit.ly/11dDjoV+ Try the bitly.com sidebar to see who is talking about a page on the web: http://bitly.com/pages/sidebar -- Peter Kurilecz CRM CA [log in to unmask] Richmond, Va http://twitter.com/RAINbyte http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/RAINbyte/ http://paper.li/RAINbyte/rainbyte http://pinterest.com/pakurilecz/archives/ http://pinterest.com/pakurilecz/records-management/ http://www.linkedin.com/in/peterakurilecz Information not relevant for my reply has been deleted to reduce the electronic footprint and to save the sanity of digest subscribers List archives at http://lists.ufl.edu/archives/recmgmt-l.html Contact [log in to unmask] for assistance To unsubscribe from this list, click the below link.
