And I would only add to the good points made already that you might check 
with your A/R department and ask specifically in their experience what 
auditors (IRS, state dept of revenue) have wanted to see in terms of 
backup & audit trail, and if there is any established frequency (ex: every 
2-3 years) with which the come in to do an audit.
