Larry, I was with you right along until you blamed this on the technology sector: "...yet another term that IT has hijacked..." To me, this patent just goes right along with the defective copyright / patent system in this country, and has nothing to do with IT except that idiotic courts have upheld things as patentable simply when they're implemented (or implementable) by a computer system.
