I don't know the swimming pool story, but many years ago I became the
"Records something or other" and learned that the inactive records were
stored in boxes in a Box Car situated on a railroad track on the southside
of Chicago.  Yes, the company I worked for was a manufacturer of box cars -
among other things.  Very interesting trip to retrieve records during a
strike at that location and I was too young to be afraid:)
