Deb,  we had a shredding day for the employees and had a local shredder drop bins all over the company.  Then for a week they could bring in personal things from home and the company paid for them to be shredded.  We did it around tax time when a purge usually takes place, but it went over so well that we are doing it again this fall.  Along with it we developed a booklet that went through types of files they may have at home and what their retention cycles were so that they knew what to throw.  It also contained tips on how to store their files at home and what should be stored in a safety deposit box vs files at home.  They really appreciated that information and it marketed record retention for work and home.  Let me know if you would like to hear more.
