If you are charged with corporate governance and you don’t know what
“Information Governance” is, you had better learn – quickly – because
Information Governance is a business necessity in 2015. Simply put,
companies cannot have good corporate governance in the Information Age
without it, and it is unclear why any officer or director charged with
“Corp. Gov.” would choose to run that risk. First, our data privacy and
information security laws and regulations increasingly are requiring
businesses to have either a formal information governance program or many
of the specific elements thereof. This trend is accelerating. Second, a
properly organized and maintained information governance program need not
be “too difficult” or “too expensive” to maintain.

"The problems of our economy have occurred not as an outgrowth of
laissez-faire, unbridled competition.
They have occurred under the guidance of federal agencies, and under the
umbrella of federal regulations."
Senator Ted Kennedy, in defending trucking deregulation in 1978.
